If you are interested in trying my demo, what you have to is 1) to get and intall the i18n patch first, 2) to download my Itasca tarball, and 3) to install this tarball as you did with its English version. The key points to display Chinese (please refer to the demo.map file in the demo) are ENCODING and FONT settings in the LABEL part.
